This highly efficient and robust "MPEG2 Long GOP" codec - which is also used in the Sony XDCAM HD™ and XDCAM EX™ series – enables users to record stunning-quality HD video. The HVR-Z7U provides over 60 minutes*2 of recording time using the widely available miniDV videotape. While the HVR-S270U has the additional option of using standard-size cassettes that provide over 4.5 hours*3 of continuous recording.
